Dr. Paulo Marin is a globally recognized specialist in Information Technology consulting and have demonstrated abilities in IT project management services, technology training, optical fibers system design and maintenance as well as on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) related to signal transmission on copper cabling and mission-critical environments. Dr. Marin has been active in this industry since 1990.


Dr. Paulo Marin worked as international technical manager for an American tier one cabling systems manufacturer in Latin America, Caribbean, and Iberia and was responsible for technical training, project assistance, as well as sales for more than seven years. These responsibilities included country management for Chile & Brazil as well as International Technical Manager throughout the Central American/Latin American (CALA) region. Additional responsibilities included technical support, development and application of technical training programs, presentations in conferences, seminars and symposiums in the Americas, Caribbean, and Iberia.


Marin holds an electrical engineer degree from FESP (Faculdade de Engenharia São Paulo, Brazil), a post graduation in telecommunications (Matched Filters) from Mackenzie University (São Paulo, Brazil), a master's degree in electrical engineering on signal propagation over balanced cables from Mackenzie University, and a doctor's degree in electrical engineering with a paper about electromagnetic interference in structured cabling systems from Mackenzie University.


Dr. Marin is a physical layer management expert and has the Authorized Infrastructure Manager Administrator (iAIMA) and iTRACS Authorized Professional Trainer (iAPT) certifications from iTRACS Corporation (Phoenix, AZ - USA). Dr. Marin is experienced in the implementation of the iTRACS IM solutions and has coordinated several system implementations for corporate clients in Argentina, Brazil, and Spain.


Dr. Marin is an active IEEE (Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers) member and belong to the Electromagnetic Compatibility Society. Marin has spoken in a number of IEEE conferences about transmission impairments and EMI/EMC issues.


As a BICSI member for more than ten years, Dr. Marin has served as the BICSI Brazil District Secretary (1999), BICSI Brazil District Chair (2000), was a member of the BICSI Brazil Steering Committee (2001-2002), and Regional Director (2003). Dr. Marin serves BICSI as a Subject Matter Expert Team Leader, within the TI&M committee and is responsible for coordinating the revision of the electromagnetic compatibility chapter of the BICSI TDMM (Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual), 12th edition.

Dr. Marin was Regional Director of ABRAPI in Brazil (Brazilian Association for Intelligent Buildings & Automation) in 2001. Paulo Marin has been a telecommunications cabling specialist engineer for almost 18 years, and has worked on installations, design, consulting, and training in this field. Paulo Marin has been invited to present as speaker in a number of local and international conferences about telecommunications cabling and EMI/EMC issues.


Marin has written several technical articles for technical magazines in South America and is author of a technical book (published in Brazil) about structured cabling. Marin has been a columnist of Revista RTI, an important Brazilian telecommunications magazine for about seven years through a questions and answers monthly column. Dr. Marin is currently the chair of the committee CE 03:046.05 (ABNT/COBEI) responsible for the development of the up-to-date Brazilian telecommunications cabling standard (NBR-14565:2007). Dr. Marin is also a member of the ANSI/BICSI-002 standard subcommittee(Data Center Infrastructure Std.) and is the chairman of the ANSI/BICSI ESS subcommittee, responsible for the development of a standard for Electronic Safety and Security in The United Satates.
